Turn automatic news updates off. You don’t need it flashing on your phone. Your inbuilt threat response needs a rest.

People who know how to keep communicating and build bridges when there is conflict should be leaders. Jumping straight to ‘you’re/I’m all bad’ or ‘you’re/I’m perfect’ needs to be unpicked more often. We’re all good and bad at different times. The challenge is accepting that.

Know someone who’s dreading 2025? Please don’t wait for them to reach out. Instead ‘reach in’ to them. It may be hard to do, but also the most important conversation for both of you. Asking if they’ve seen the StayingSafe.net website is a gentle way to introduce a #SafetyPlan to help them stay safer

"Busyness" is an affliction for many of us. It often fulfils a deep need but means no time for things that really matter to us. We can make 2025 the year when, individually & collectively, we're less "busy". See: medtrics.org/why-do-we-al... by Dalia Oufi. Art: Liana Finck via adamgrant.bsky.social

I’ve been a bit quiet on here, mainly because I’ve been fortunate enough to spend most of December in #Australia

What an amazing adventure and met some wonderful people on the way.

Bit of a shock returning to UK temperatures today though! 🥶

Safety Plans should be like fingerprints - bespoke and unique to each person:
•Not a one size fits all
•Coproduced with trust and compassion
•May look simple but include actions to safely navigate distress and suicidal thoughts
Don’t have one? StayingSafe.net can help you make your own #SafetyPlan

Shout out to the #barbers who spotted a frazzled mum, quietly switched the booming background music to jazz and handed me a fantastic cup of coffee for a 20 min time out while my son’s hair was cut today! #gratitude

My word of the day (and personal recommendation) is ‘snerdling’ (18th century): nestling cosily beneath the covers and holding off the day a little longer.

Morning.

Assisted Dying Bill 29 November will be a free vote.
Kim Leadbetter assures us that there will be the strictest safeguards , and refers to the Oregon Bill.
It won’t be immune to “progressive normalisation”.
I’m concerned that coercion, and its motives, remains difficult to prove.
