Still can’t engage much beyond sharing this from time to time, as I know there’ve been a good amount of new folks over the past week or so… to let you know where I’m at at the moment…

This is where I’m at.

The reason I’ve been fairly unengaged on here for many months... Due to complications derived from living with Parkinson’s for 30 yrs, my husband of 20 years passed away, quietly, this past Sunday at what became our current home in Lima with me at his side. I’m numb and can’t yet comment further.

Theater tonight ❤️ Very poignant that the 1st play I see after leaving Peru is the work of a friend & his husband. And it’s great work. Chris Grace: As Scarlett Johansson is fantastic & this is its last week at Portland Center Stage. Highly recommend! & if it comes to your city, GO. Viva el teatro 🎭

I’m back in pdx for a couple days after leaving just over 1 yr ago. It is 5 months since my husband’s passing. It’s also the 1st time in years I’m on my own (son wanted to stay home alone—an important milestone). Instead of our apt, I’m in a hotel. And I’m trying to be ok (yes, I went to Powell’s).

My husband passed away 2 wks ago. Finally got through to the hold system of one if his retirement accounts (vs being booted due to system overload). The estimated wait was 43 min. Been on hold for 1 hr 17 min and counting. This is not how to treat calls from people who need to report such a thing.

This is our makeshift menorah for this year. We are not where we planned on being and in the midst of intense family medical care abroad having recently moved into a new apartment without most of our belongings. I came to really love our makeshift menorah.

“it’s a wonderful life” (1946) remains the best christmas film about the importance of mutual aid during the decline of capitalism.

Every state could do this.
It's a good day to be a New Jerseyan.

PRINCETON, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy signed a law Monday to prohibit public and school libraries from banning books in the state and to enshrine protections against civil and criminal charges for librarians who comply with the law.

PSA for International Day of People with Disabilities. Having a physical or mental impairment is not a failure. Barriers to access for people who need them sure AF is. Denying access takes away people’s dignity.

Make it your goal to remove barriers every day.

Access is a human right.

The AIDS quilt is such a striking example of quilting and other traditionally feminized crafts as radical queer politics and I hope this encourages people to learn more about the rich history of protest textiles in the US.

A reminder of how one's reality/life experience is shaped so much by what's around you, and what you seek to surround you and allow yourself to see (or what is handed to you in the absence of choice). You can very much choose your reality or your reality is chosen for you, or something in between.

The trend to no longer have, at least, one bathtub in a home is awful. Baths are healthy and sometimes therapeutically essential. Even if only once in a great while, you should always be able to take a bath at home.
