Rory 1st, Shane 2nd at Pebble Beach. Nice way to get excited for the new golf season! Particularly impressed with how McIlroy handled his Sunday and the back 9 to pull clear to win in particular. No pressure, pragmatic, decision making of when to attack and when to hold back. 👏

An article I've been meaning to do all year - Kalle Karlsson (Sweden), Natalia Arroyo (Spain) and Mariana Cabral (Portugal) all used to report on football as newspaper journalists. Now they're rising football managers. I talked to them about what us journos get wrong:

People are often surprised when I tell them this: both Twitter and Facebook/insta/threads are now specifically engineered to downgrade, hide, suppress real journalism. If this platform is different, that's a huge change
Traffic from Bluesky to @bostonglobe.com is already 3x that of Threads, and we are seeing 4.5x the conversions to paying digital subscribers.
