Not such a bright idea: cooling the Earth by reflecting sunlight back to space is a dangerous distraction
A UN meeting this week considered a motion on a suite of technologies known as ‘solar radiation modification’, but no consensus could be reached on the controversial topic.

🌏Promoting socially responsible governance of new marine climate intervention⏩ This paper shows that decisions about whether to intervene in marine systems often focus on scientific, economic, and ecological feasibility without fully anticipating risks to societies

Promoting socially responsible governance of new marine climate intervention
As climatic impacts in oceans intensify, novel marine climate interventions are increasingly popular. However, little is known about whether such interventions are socially responsible. Our analysis o...

Governing novel climate interventions in rapidly changing oceans
Marine systems are rapidly changing in response to global heating. The scale and intensity of change are triggering a host of novel interventions to sustain oceans and ocean-dependent societies. Howev...

Global heating is changing marine systems. 🌊 🌡️
In response, novel interventions are gaining traction fast.
They aim to sustain ocean systems and ocean-dependent societies - but come with risks. 💥
