We're doing no-mow at the moment and I was on the verge of giving into the temptation to mow until I read this....
Did u know? If you extend your no-mow into June & beyond, you may find your lawns hold incredible secrets. I only found out I have Common Spotted Orchids in mine when I let the grass grow. Saw my first tortoiseshell butterfly of the year today. These little characters hibernate over winter, popping out when weather warms, looking for nettles to lay their eggs on. But they need dandelions (like the green-veined white below) for energy first 💪. No dandelions/nettles, no tortoiseshells!
