Why there is war? Men wage meaningless war because of their women, but not for their children. And yet, our children fight for us.(Some nations fight for their children. Usually they lose.)

I have carried them in a satchel, without reading. I have laid them and slept upon.

The day the winner don't celebrate what split a nation in two, when he remembers what it was to oppose, acts to strengthen it beyond his own power, when he acknowledges the lost not saying how he represents both, for he don't — that day will be true democracy.

endeavour must pass through it. I have seen its upright twin, too. As I slide down its slippery ways, I see the slope
curving upwards on the other side.

Banning books is stupid and gross, but whenever I'm looking for a new book, I have to admit that the banned book lists have been really helpful.
