Untrustworthy, murderous met police are going to be given more surveillance powers? That seems like a good idea.

What a joke this country is. Bills already too high "£108 added to energy bills by 2031". So, the energy companies didn't invest, gave the money away, and now we're picking up the tab. Oh for a Government with a spine who can get a grip (no, that isn't Reform).

Energy investment of £28bn approved by regulator Ofgem
Ofgem says the investment will help lower reliance on imported gas and make wholesale energy cheaper.

Read an article today about a primary school banning K-Pop Demon Hunter songs because it’s upsetting some hyper-faith people. I bet it’s the parents it’s upsetting not the kids.

Tell them to JTFO.

Don’t all these problems go away if universities stop being businesses?
'More degree subjects are likely to face extinction unless changes are made to competition laws to allow universities to work together to maintain certain courses, experts have said.' 1/3
Competition law exemption ‘needed to prevent courses dying out’
Attempts to quell universities’ fears about competition laws may actually be heightening anxiety over collaboration in cash-strapped sector

Heseltine was the first Tory MP to publicly criticise Enoch Powell after Rivers of Blood in 1968. Let him cook
“You described Reform and other parties across Europe today as among the 'right wing equivalents of the fascists in the 1930s'. Why?”

“Because that’s what they are”

@vicderbyshire.bsky.social asks Lord Heseltine about remarks he made at Conservative Party Conference.

This from the country that loves to wank itself off over 'WW2 war time spirit', can't even handle some lights. I'm sure the Ukrainian's are bored too. But more about the invasion rather than some LED lights.

Had a nice meal. Left it pissed off because they slipped service charge on at the end. Leave that shit out of our restaurants. (And don't bleat on about 'challenging environment'; nickel and diming people isn't the way to return customers).

As someone in education who gets a lot of emails from students from all over the world, I had not considered this - and wish everyone would start using them for this reason. I'd love to address people respectfully at all times! This would really help me achieve that!
One overlooked benefit of declaring preferred pronouns as a social norm is that it's not just for LGBTQ but also for people w non-Anglo names. I'm a cishet woman with a very feminine name but nobody's gonna know that if they don't know Chinese.
But the anti-LGBTQ crowd are also anti-immigrant so..

Owing to staggering Government Overreach (dressed up, as always, as ‘protect the children) Xbox want me to age verify my account.

The same account I’ve had since 2002.

“Air Canada to resume flights after pay deal struck with union”

Stand by others and the unions of others. Companies don’t listen to reason they listen to action.

As someone that will need Air Canadas service relatively soon: good. If companies aren’t going to treat its staff fairly then they need to be stood up to.

In a Canadian pub last night. I’m trying to find out what something is in baseball without googling. Anyway,

To our waiter: “do you follow baseball?”
Waiter: “No, is it on?”

I look at the two 70”+ screens on the wall thats had the baseball on for the entire hour we’ve been here.

Me: “…yeah.”
