Intermolecular energy migration via homoFRET captures the modulation in the material property of phase-separated biomolecular condensates - Nature Communications
The properties of biomolecular condensates can be regulated by multiple factors, including intermolecular dynamics. Here, the authors use fluorescence anisotropy-based homoFRET imaging to monitor the ...

My first Bluesky post to share our latest (and 4th) Nature Communications paper. We employed homoFRET (recorded by depolarization of fluorescence anisotropy) to study condensate properties. Congrats to Ashish, Anuja, Snehasis, Lisha, Dhruba & members of Indranil's lab!

It was a great honor to speak and chair a session in Prion 2025 held in Buzios, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I got great feedback on our prion phase separation work and learned a lot about biology, etiology, early diagnosis, and therapeutic strategies for fatal prion diseases (CJD/GSS/FFI). Goodbye, Rio!

Last week, I started teaching the freshman biology class (BIO 101), which I'm very excited about. I'm sharing one of my introductory slides on the three pillars of modern biology - evolution, genetics and molecular nature of genetic material. Looking forward to teaching the first-year biology class!

With @tanjamittag.bsky.social we asked if A1-LCD condensates are protective or crucibles for amyloid fibril formation. Their interfaces enable fibril nucleation but their interiors suppress fibril formation. Insights were transferrable to stress granules in cells.

I had a lovely one-week stay at Academia Sinica, Taipei. I gave a seminar, taught phase separation/single-molecule FRET & gave a plenary lecture at Taiwan Biophysics conference. I enjoyed speaking/teaching/discussing science with very talented scientists here. Thanks to my incredible host Ruby Chen.
