A film about my Grandparents. Their story of finding each other, being pulled apart and coming together once more.

Told through their memories, a single box of precious items.

It will screen at the Shakespeare North Playhouse on the 17th of October.

The Working Class Movement Library’s exhibit on The Big Flame was so moving. Produced by 18-25 year olds who have managed to continue the spirit of the group, interviewing past members and creating their own banners. It is a youth led masterpiece!

If you’re based in Manchester it’s a must see.

Edward Yang once said that if he had people leaving a film thinking they had encountered a “filmmaker” then he’d failed. He wanted people to feel like they had seen a friend.

Making films about life and how it can span is what I want to do. His films were still my greatest discovery as a teen.

I cannot wait to see this. The Big Flame’s work kept alive by young working class people, by sharing the goal of inspired, creative community organising. I’m so excited to see what @wcmlibrary.bsky.social have been working on!!

Next week I will debuting a new film at the Whitworth, where Manchester's arts organisations will assemble to find new ways to support the local community.

It's honest. Talks how easy it is to feel left out and the importance of finding community in the art we surround ourselves with.

Really loved Leeds Film Night at the Hyde Park Picture House!

I met lovely people and got to see great films. Days like these make you remember how films connect people, I feel so fortunate to be in these rooms and to be able to share the same love.

As a mentee of Arts Emergency I had:

• Learned first hand industry experience from the best people.

• Gained valuable connections, peers and role models that continues into today.

• Started me on my path to achieve goals I could only dream of.

Since I set up @artsemergency.bsky.social (not inc 2y piloting & discursively developing a project) FOUR people have signed up to our community EVERY DAY. That’s now 17,200 people over the past 12 years. 90% of our team & 100% of our trustee board would have been eligible for the project aged 16🧵

At 17, I was very awkward and felt silly for saying I wanted to be a filmmaker.

A few years on, I’m still awkward, but I have seen my work in theatres across the country and worked abroad.
