It was an honour to get to witness this moment in person 🫡

This will go a huge way to lifting people out of in work poverty and finally gets our Minimum Wage to being the highest in the British Isles after years of falling behind.

@reformjersey.bsky.social delivering in government ✊
Today, I signed the Ministerial Order to increase Jersey’s minimum wage from £11.64 to £13 per hour, from 1st April 2025. A significant step towards a living wage for all. I’m proud to deliver on a @reformjersey.bsky.social manifesto pledge and will continue to champion steps that support workers.

Another Reform Jersey manifesto commitment ticked off the list 👍
Extending the school meals programme to all government fully funded schools was one of our 9 key pledges at the last election.

We are delighted that this has now been delivered.

Well done to Deputy Rob Ward and the CYPES team for making this happen 👏👏👏

Last week the former Chief Minister described the current government as a ‘Coalition of Convenience’.

It made me smile and reflect on how far our politics has moved on since that dark December last year.

The ‘Coalition of Convenience’
Jersey’s current government is a coming together of the left and right into a Coalition of Convenience, unlike the sensible, moderate, universally popular, centre ground that was unjustly ousted from ...

Three out of the four political representatives for St Helier South voted against the Budget amendment that would have seen the delivery of a new youth centre in St Helier South deprioritised.

I’m pleased I’m attending the sitting on Teams (due to Covid) and not there. This debate is so nasty, personal and inaccurate. Two apologies required so far! I wish fellow states members could just speak on the matter at hand.

The 2014-18 Jersey government (which Deputy Bailhache was a member of) cut £10m from the Social Security budget, exacerbating poverty.

This government is spending £10m on a ‘Living Wage’ support package to alleviate in-work poverty, which Deputy Bailhache wants to de-fund.

The people who are against party politics in Jersey want you to believe that a government system of 49 politicians all pulling in different directions will somehow be more efficient than a block of 25+ politicians all pulling in the same direction.

Have you ever heard anything so ridiculous?

Tonight I’m sleeping rough with 150 others to raise money for Sanctuary Trust. They do amazing work supporting homeless men in Jersey.

Spare a few quid if you can!

Very pleased to stand shoulder to shoulder with a diverse group of States Members who have come together to support enhancing Jersey’s democratic system.

You rarely get this kind of joint working across the usual political divides, so it is a significant moment.

Let’s hope this is better than the other place!
