Beware: weaponised nostalgia is the new face of climate denial. Not 'the science is fake', but 'We had it bad in my day too - remember '76?'.

It reassures, distracts – and delays the action we urgently need.
‘Remember ’76?’ isn’t a climate argument
Britain’s 1976 heatwave was an outlier in a stable climate – not proof today’s crisis is normal

Jonathan Joss was murdered in a homophobic hate crime during pride month in Texas.

Read this carefully, because this is what the far right (and nepo baby hate grifters like Fox) want to import here by rolling back the rights of LGBT people.

This is horrifying and enraging in equal measure.

WTF? If this Government can’t even agree to this smallest of initiatives, which has no cost to them & absolutely no down-sides, what hope that it will step up to the bigger nature challenges we face? This is a *popular* policy, for heavens sake. Obstinate tin-eared stupidity doesn’t come close …

on pointing out the soaring rise in immigration “since we completed Brexit” - a key factor. This should be pointed out to Farage (who championed Brexit) in every interview

‘The hypocrisy is staggering’ - I said that because the Govt has said they will whip against the swift brick amendment that they whipped for 2 years ago….They CAN still embrace it. Thanks Patrick for covering swift bricks as we welcome swifts home.

It's just not necessary to trash everything. Zach's right, they're just doing the bidding of developers to protect profits. We know we can do so much better with a little thought. Also greatly diminishes any good of putting solar on newbuilds recently announced. www.theguardian.com/environment/....

The most unpatriotic members of any society are the far right. They will always align with foreign interests against the interests of their own nations. They will always undermine national institutions and national values in pursuit of their own interests. When they pose as patriots, they lie.

"It is well-known that most of the mainstream media do not approach a Labour Government in a neutral way.

Some blatantly misrepresent what is happening, but more often they simply do not report activity, leaving people with a sense that the government is doing nothing."
Government is busy: but the media are not telling you
Despite what the press tells us, the government is very busy, often doing popular things. But you wouldn’t know it from the press coverage

1. Trump and his Death Eaters cannot tolerate any rival power. Europe, when united, is a major trading and diplomatic bloc. They see Russia (much less of a threat to US hegemony) as an excellent instrument for breaking up Europe, by threat or by force.🧵

I am a climate scientist and this is correct ⬇️
Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.
