Just tried to buy a train ticket at a machine and they were asking for £10 more than on Trainline (needless to say I did not purchase). But why oh why is there such a dark art to buying a train ticket in this country?

Hi all, any recommendations of a great French campsite somewhere between Calais and Loire that has a waterpark? We’re visiting a friend but want to have some
family fun first! #travel #france #travelwriters

Mull really has been something special this past week. Feel revived and rotund in equal measure (the cakes at the Old Post Office in Lochbuie are too good). #isleofmull #scottishisles

Off to the Isle of Mull for February half-term. Anyone have any great ideas of what we should do and what might be open? Obviously happy to go in wintry walks and return to our cosy cottage to dry out/warm up but might be nice to factor in a few other things too #scotland #travel #Mull #IsleofMull

Is it a sign of getting old that I don’t think January is going slowly at all? Like every other month, it’s whizzing by 😅

I don’t believe I have ever admired a woman as much as Gisele Pelicot. What a woman. The BBC’s coverage of the sentencing is incredible and I really hope this will trigger real change in terms of rape culture, consent, and the inexplicable obsession within our society to shame victims

Last magazine out the door before Christmas - I think I deserve a Baileys tonight! ☺️

Emails to the editor (that’s me 👋) addressed to ‘Sir’ can get in the bin. It’s not even the utter laziness that grates but the assumption - in 2024! - that the editor is male! Ha. Unbelievable.

Just had my first mum’s-lost-her-shit meltdown of the season. It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas 😀

8yo: You want to play Frustration?
Me: No, it’s your bedtime and I have to clean the kitchen
8yo (exasperated): But you did that yesterday!
Me: I know mate, tell me about it!

I am a big supporter of the NHS but it never fails to surprise me how often* reception staff come across as unhelpful and borderline rude. I’m sure it would make their lives a bit easier to be more pleasant (*not all reception staff)

To all the mums out there with small children and no time to themselves, I want to tell you that there’ll come a time when they are old enough to amuse themselves and you can spend Saturday afternoon painting your nails and listening to (OG) Destiny’s Child. Hang on in there. Good times are coming

Blue Skies and Me is the name of my favourite song of my late brother’s, and it’s a beautiful, hopeful track so it feels like fate to find myself here. Let’s keep the hope and fun alive - god knows we could all do with it!
