These two trees in Glen Affric reminded me of the twisted helix shape of DNA.

There was a very narrow window to zoom in and isolate them from the surrounding forest.

I was lucky enough to get back to the San Diego Zoo in November and caught one of the giant pandas having a late lunch.

Between my high reach and articulating screen, I was able to get a decent photo over the divider from the tier above.

Watching a troop of meerkat wake up and emerge in the Makgadigadi area of Botswana was a treat. I sat on the ground (after checking for scorpions) and they ran around me as I snapped photos.

The lights on Nubble Lighthouse turned off overnight, but they returned before the sunrise and set up this nice long exposure view in the cold winter morning.

This vulture was one of our last sightings in the Makgadigadi region of Botswana. There were lions hunting in the area, and it must have been waiting for an opportunity to scavenge.

A pride of lions stopped for a drink by a flooded pool in the Mababe Depression. This one had a hop over one corner on the way out. The waters were rising quickly from one day to the next as the water rushed down from the Okavango Delta.
