Speaking of apps, my cooking app is at 1.0. It's combining my love for home cooking and my efforts trying to return to software development. Only took 8 months 😝

So this happened again, but this time it's GenAI Piers Morgan talking about Prince William stripping Prince Harry of all his royal titles. Showed her Piers' real YT channel (sigh) and she claimed she can't tell the difference.
Saw my mom watch a video on YT of a GenAI Kaitlyn Collins talking about Canadian-US trade, stuff that looks and sounds sophisticated being pumped out by content mills.

Yesterday during one of the busiest days of the year for Chinatown pedestrians can't even walk on the sidewalk because drivers are parking on it @nyc.streetsblog.org

So this afternoon I became the change I wanted to see and helped clear a local bike lane.

In honor of @jerseycitynj.bsky.social joining Bluesky, here's Grand St PBL thirteen days after the big snow storm. I don't think praying for warmer weather is gonna help.

Is this because of the kids declaring themselves in their "Chinese era"?

So this what the bike lanes in Downtown Jersey City look like 11 days after the storm

A freelancer contacted me just last month about helping out some work that required Adobe Animate. This would have wiped out a good chunk of her jobs. www.techradar.com/pro/adobe-re...

I prompted Gemini to build a node script and it kept apologizing as it kept making the same errors in an infinite loop.

I imagine people who pay for tokens might not be as amused.

Not clearing the crosswalks means blocking the drains, ensuring that any snow that melts during the day doesn't go anywhere and freeze at night.
Scenes from downtown. Bike lanes unplowed, best we can do with crosswalks is maybe half plowed.

Just saw someone call the latest Claude Code workflow "the meta".
Happy to see the same mechanics that get people to drop tens of thousands of dollars on virtual characters and their costumes be added to everyone's software engineering workflow lucumr.pocoo.org/2026/1/18/ag...

If I ever get mistaken for being an American while overseas it would be the first time
the "americans will be pariahs when they travel!!" discourse is so funny. 1) we deserve it, 2) people in other countries (excluding, say, large parts of Iraq) are in reality pretty chill about americans, great satan or no

I don't like improving my writing skills just so I can talk to a web server instead of another person.
Nothing like blowing nearly an entire month's of (free) tokens talking to GitHub Copilot on how to configure something on their own site.
Tried to generate a e2e testing script for my app, Copilot came back with slop that didn't work. So I had it write the plan and assigned it to me, ChudGPT, to write the tests.

This game is entirely funded by players dropping thousands of dollars on a gacha for COSMETIC upgrades. And they can pull off stuff like this www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxxB...

Tries to play Where Winds Meet (allegedly a single player game). Download 55 GB patch. Logs in to find my character with a bounty. Character gets attacked by another player and now my character is in virtual jail for the next 15 minutes.

10/10 Wuxia game. No notes.

I too was sad that the Hong Kong MTR replaced their magnetic card with the contactless Octopus... in 1997
the amount of sad you should feel about the retirement of the NYC Metrocard should be like “mildly wistful pre-nostalgia” — more than that, IMO, is kinda silly
