Johnson’s inertia was almost unbearable for NHS staff to watch, because we knew full well that its price was about to be met by the “herd” – that the bodies were indeed going to pile high around us. We knew this because it was already happening elsewhere. observer.co.uk/news/nationa...

Not enough credit is given to those who ensured the system didn’t collapse during covid19 while those elected to lead left their responsibilities to greed. NHS, Frontline emergency services, council workers and our civil service are the backbone and pillars of our society.

The Covid Inquiry report doesn't offer any surprises. The huge mistakes made were knowable at the time and repeatedly warned against by many of us.

And in relation to preparing for the burden of post viral chronic disease, I don’t think we’re in any better position with a future pandemic.

Ethiopia’s #Marburg outbreak is growing: 8 cases, 4 deaths, 46 suspected. Given the close Ethiopia–Somaliland movement and shared borders, infectious disease with only exptl treatments quickly becomes regional health risk. Vigilance, timely info, and coordinated readiness are vital. #PublicHealth

It’s now clear that information on U.S. government websites can no longer be trusted.

It’s both heartbreaking and infuriating to see how quickly this administration has undermined science, public health, and the credibility of our scientific institutions.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but the CDC is being eviscerated right now. America is not going to have any kind of outbreak response capacity after tonight. Americans’ health data is no longer secure. Say goodbye to federal public health in any capacity. It’s a disaster. We won’t recover.

So now the Administration are saying that the mass firing of CDC scientists, including many responsible for preventing outbreaks, was an “error” and many will be brought back.

Whether by intention or incompetence, dismantling public health will kill people.
