The world feels like a big dumper fire right now; while it doesn’t feel entirely appropriate to be celebratory, I’m quite pleased to share that I’ll be starting my PhD at UMass Amherst in English this fall — while continuing work for the ALTA transition mentorship. Super excited for the next 5years!

Importing from Twitter/X.

Fascinating how caste-origins become weaponized as metaphors of social inferiority over time. Currently working on locating representations of ‘Choohrah’ caste in Pakistani fiction right now, hopefully available to the wider audience to read soon!

Teaching a course on translation theory this semester at IBA and I finally started the translation of this hilarious book! Very few books talk about Dalit-Christians in Pakistan… as protagonists, as non-sweepers, as suffering assault on the basis of caste.

Translating such caste lit becomes urgent.
