This is the current front page of the Times. The Washington Post is even worse. Their headlines are privileging the accounts of the administration with a track record of lying as being as valid as eye witness accounts and videos.

The news department director when I left, a woman who literally oversaw the newsroom during the Breonna Taylor protests in Louisville and had her own reporters gassed and attacked by LMPD, ended up leaving news after I did to go work PR for... the LMPD.

Worked in the tv news biz for 8 years. What I saw completely broke my (until then) lifelong starry-eyed beliefs about the power of the fourth estate. This was probably the biggest part of it, honestly. Absolute, unquestioning trust in any statements/info from law enforcement or military.

the most concerning thing about them justifying murdering an obviously completely innocent murder by ICE is if they can justify and defend this, there’s nothing that’s too far for them. anything you can imagine them doing is very likely something they’ll stand behind
