I would like to know who has been reporting that national programmers "operating out of New York and Hollywood" are keeping broadcasters from "serving their local communities—including by punishing them for exercising their right to preempt national programming."
FCC Launches Review Of Network-Affiliate Relationships
Brendan Carr said that the review will examine the influence of Hollywood and New York programmers on local stations.

HBO Chairman and CEO Casey Bloys explained the network's reliance on IP to engage their audience. What do y'all think of this strategy? For me, I admit that it's a winner, but IP fatigue is a real problem, too.

A reminder that the FCC's authority over the licenses of broadcasters is limited and the president not liking what someone on broadcast said does not fall in that purview.

Here's a rundown of the agency's "The Public and Broadcasting" manual: sabrinawatchestv.substack.com/p/fcc-limite...

Montana Mavericks, the first film in The CW's Harlequin romances slate, was such a good watch. Love seeing a broadcast network venture into the TV movie lane. I'm hoping there's more to come in other genres as well.

Check out my review to see why you should head to the CW App and stream the movie!

Had some thoughts about the Disney/YouTube TV carriage dispute that's left 10 million consumers without the legacy media company's programming.
Disney and YouTube TV are fighting it out but it's the consumer who should be concerned
Disney's networks have gone dark on YouTube TV because of a carriage dispute. But it's the consumers who ultimately pay for these fights in the long run.

I strongly suggest you read the FCC's manual 'The Public and Broadcasting.' I wrote about the document on my Substack, TV on My Mind. It goes into the limited authority of the federal agency and the people's power over what broadcasts.
The FCC's limited authority to regulate broadcast TV stations explained
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) does have authority over broadcast TV but its limited in scope. The power actually resides in the people's hands.

Skipping a deep dive this week to ask a few questions about broadcast TV. If you have answers, please comment, I'd love to hear from you.

First question: Do people know the difference between broadcast and cable?

Curious about broadcast TV? I am, too, here are the questions I'm looking to answer through research and talking to fellow TV viewers, including how the FCC regulates broadcast.

Per the poll, sports fans are less likely to be cord cutters and more likely to churn through streamers.

Sports are carrying broadcast and cable, hence the decrease in scripted to leave room for live sports. But streamers are starting to invest in sports now, too. I suspect a clash in coming years.
Many sports fans are unhappy with how much it costs to watch their games, an AP-NORC poll finds
A new poll finds sports fans are likelier to use a combination of streaming services and traditional TV options to access their favorite teams.

#TheRunarounds' formula for success is one common to music TV shows. Let's get into why studios continue to invest in a genre that has a lot of upfront risk.

I Was Feeling Epic lives up to its name. #TVD fans will be satisfied but don't expect the book to be interrogative. There's no bite but Samantha Highfill has a deft hand in her delivery particularly with Nina Dobrev's exit. #TheVampireDiaries

#ThePaper is more a successor of Parks and Rec than anything else. It's earnest in the right ways. There's a sense of optimism in this show that we desperately need especially in a time where there's an attack on journalism in this country. I think you should give it a chance.

Perhaps it was foolish, but I'd assumed the ombudsman would be someone with a background in journalism, specifically broadcast news.

Paramount CEO David Ellison mentioned wanting to steer CBS News toward the center where 70% of America is. How exactly does this achieve that goal?
