The CW has taken a page from Hallmark and Lifetime by investing in TV movies like Montana Mavericks and their Harlequin romance slate. More networks should follow suit. Here's why with insights from screenwriter Lauren Greenwood.

HBO Chairman and CEO Casey Bloys explained the network's reliance on IP to engage their audience. What do y'all think of this strategy? For me, I admit that it's a winner, but IP fatigue is a real problem, too.

A reminder that the FCC's authority over the licenses of broadcasters is limited and the president not liking what someone on broadcast said does not fall in that purview.

Here's a rundown of the agency's "The Public and Broadcasting" manual: sabrinawatchestv.substack.com/p/fcc-limite...

Chewing on this as I ponder over what Nielsen taking more time with their full audience ratings means for TV's renewal and cancellation process.

This week's deep dive is on YouTube's streaming TV reach. There's too much focus on how it's impacting legacy brands, not enough on the lax content moderation policies. They're the King of Audience and misinformation isn't getting checked.

I'm still stuck on YA fighting to make a come back. Perhaps the studios are listening to those of us yelling they won't have a future adult consumer base if they don't cater to teens. Looking forward to #TheRunarounds in September!

Smoke on Apple TV+ is making a strong case for a live-action Firebug or Firefly drama. The series follows two serial arsonists under investigation. There's a stunning attention to the depiction of fire and the reasons for these crimes that lends itself well to a DC villain story.

The WGA's 2025 Inclusion & Equity report has me wondering how more progress can be made. An 8.4% increase in employed TV writers of color in the 2023-24 season is not enough when jobs are down and white men make up 46.2% of showrunners.

Ellie grabbing the Monster at the end of this Book for the baby is my underrated #TheLastOfUs S2 finale moment. It's my favorite children's book, but I don't have my original copy so seeing Ellie with an OG printing that has the classic Little Golden Books spine warmed my heart.

Ellie was on some nonsense in this boat 😭. Nearly got taken out twice and still made her way to that aquarium. Poseidon was churning the water, a wave tried to kill her, and the Scars strung her up. These were neon bright signs saying go back. And yet she persisted! #TheLastOfUS

#GoodCopBadCop is so cozy. The new procedural dramedy on #TheCW starring Leighton Meester and Luke Cook, as siblings who've been paired together on the force by their father, is funny, wholesome, and a good time on a Wednesday night.
