We've had two separate reports of sick Mute Swans in North Shropshire today, and referred both callers to Defra.

Please be vigilant, and report any sightings of sick birds to Defra (link in thread) and also log them in BirdTrack. #ShropshireBirds
Worrying reports of bird flu (avian influenza) are coming in, including an outbreak in Whooper Swans in the Fens. Other waterbirds are also being affected, and cases are rising.

Neophobia compared in 1,439 birds of 136 species

Specialised diets and migration are associated with greater fear of new objects. Surprisingly, witnessing such objects in groups is also associated with greater fear.

I did one of these over the weekend and it was really good fun and also did not take very long. One of the kids asked me if mummies can come back to life. 10/10 experience for any archaeologist I think.
Welp here we are again, fresh out of Archaeologists for Skype a Scientist matches.

This fall, we have matched 248 groups with Archaeologists for online Q&As. I have 38 more groups who need a match, but I'm out of Archaeologists!

Archaeologists! Please volunteer
