Imagine looking at these masked ICE cowards dragging kids out of their homes, violently pulling drivers out of their cars, threatening protestors, attacking concerned citizens, contriving physical confrontations, escalating violence, killing our neighbors, and thinking that's the America we want.

The one time my car was broken into, my expensive sunglasses were stolen, but what actually upset me was my wallet full only of local coffee shop punch cards was taken. I'm sure that was a profound disappointment for the thief to open later, but I still lament those lost stamps.

I had been thinking about ditching my microwave for a few years, but never got the balls to do it. Then mine broke, and frankly I've been too lazy to fix it, and I miss it exactly almost never.

The further away from the city I get, the happier I am. I get to wake up every morning to the smell of the ocean, the arffing of sea lions, the sunrise hitting the mountains & the Sound, ferry horns honking, snails & raccoons in my garden, & all I have to do is pay half as much for twice the home.

The great joys in life are relatively simple. They're within our grasp. A hot shower, when your coffee cools just enough to take your first big sip, a sunny day in winter, a cool breeze in summer, a creative outlet, finishing a project, a first kiss, the smell of a book, a beer with your friends.

I can't wait for the pendulum to swing back from this era of cheap, fake, mass produced, low effort, attention seeking, aloof, indifferent, preoccupied, digital, tribalistic, quixotic, dumbed down, homogenized, monetized, efficient, distracted, second screen, antisocial, lowest common denominator...

You can do the work to hold corporations accountable for their environmental impact (let's be real, you probably aren't) without bitching about your own responsibilities to do the same.

Does it ever strike you how we find the only wildlife left that can adapt to tolerate our presence disgusting, annoying, and/or terrifying? Rats, mice, pigeons, spiders, raccoons, opossums, coyotes, crows, etc. etc. All beautiful creatures.

AI could never write that spectacular scene (one of many) in John Woo's The Killer in which Danny Lee's detective character is attempting to describe Chow Yun Fat's character to a police sketch artist, sez almost nothing of his physical appearance...
