I’ll go 1st—when we talk about how technological history gets narrated & I say "no human being has ever lived in a historical period—they’ve only lived in the present"

Technology is or mediates everything.
The number of 3-letter-agency (FBI, CIA, NSA, NDI) informational and hiring events that have been cancelled is outrageous. Our students are worse off for it, and that directly impacts the nation's security posture. This helps no one*.

There's no single "magic word" or "key phrase" that will break through, but I'm thinking about this a lot lately.

"Move fast [so it's hard to see how bad we are at this] and break stuff [because we don't understand how it works, what it's for, the repercussions when it's actually broken, or why it's important for anyone since it's not for me]."
When I heard Musk say this on Tuesday, my assumption was that it was a programming issue. Because I can code and have written to databases and because I am familiar with other examples of default values being misinterpreted.

It is a soul-sucking, brutal process.
The scientists don’t get rich when they get funded. Their salary doesn’t change.
