Oh boy it’s swell to say… I’m now assistant director on AMERICAN DAD! As someone who grew up reading every book about animation and filmmaking, this really is a thrill.

I’m helping out with Retakes at work and it’s crazy how minute the changes can be and how such small changes can make such a huge difference. If anything can save us from AI, it’s artists’ absurd attention to detail.

One of the strangest aspects of aging that they don't warn you about is watching as history gets rewritten right in front of your face and people 20 years younger than you confidently tell you about something you lived through and get it completely wrong.

Real ones know the best gossip rag in Hollywood was the comment section of the Animation Guild’s blog back in the late 00s/early 10s. RIP!
Finally started watching THE STUDIO, a show made for weirdos like me who have been reading Variety, Hollywood Reporter and Deadline since they were in high school. Obviously I love it.

I’m traveling on the Coast Starlight from LA to Seattle and back and it’s kind of crazy to have travel days that aren’t stressful at all. All I do is board the train, sit, look out the window, eat and read. Tremendously inefficient but incredibly relaxing.

My favorite thing about the last long-distance train I took was discovering every retiree who takes the train for fun is a massive AMERICAN DAD fan.
Well I’m glad I booked those train tickets just in case

It is genuinely baffling that voters forget they hate Donald Trump until he’s president.

I’m in line for the Over the Garden Wall concert. A guy in a Dodgers hat slowly drives his car down the alley way, blasting music. His window is rolled down and he’s drinking a Modelo. He sees me holding a Liquid Death, holds out his beer, and says “Cheers.” We clink drinks and I say “Go Dodgers.”

Caught a matinee of the Blasting Company’s OVER THE GARDEN WALL concert. Crazy to think the show came out eleven years ago and how long ago that feels now. A relic from a much different age.

Watching a YouTube video and the name “Melanie” is pronounced “Muh-LINE-knee.”

Dodgers win! It’s probably cheating to root for one of the best teams in baseball but whatever, I lived in Seattle for thirty years, this is a nice change of pace.

Writing sign jokes into backgrounds on my show is the closest I’ll ever get to being a SIMPSONS writer.

Rewatching RETURN TO OZ with coworkers during our lunch break and sorry, visual effects peaked with Claymation. It’s been downhill ever since.

Lightbox is fun this year. Heartwarming and slightly concerning that the youngins still have faith in animation.

Pounding on Kino Lorber’s door, begging them to let me do an audio commentary for a barely remembered 90s studio comedy.

Classic Seattle, the minute something goes wrong, you give up immediately.

On my way to see the new Ethan Hawke movie people can’t stop raving about. That’s right, BLUE MOON.
