Note: i talk about Calvin a lot. Calvin is my currently 10 year old step-son. He is high-needs/low-functioning intellectually disabled, non-verbal, ARFID, diapered etc. He is a very special kid. We have victories and bad days.
He is the reason I fight for rights that I can't fight for myself.

Thank you to everyone who voted yesterday! Let's hope this doesn't ramp up gunpowder, treason, and plots...by either side.

Not me paraphrasing the "Full Metal Jacket" quote at the cat for taking my spot. "Wilson, this is MY spot, there are many like it, but this one is mine".

Just did grocery shopping and noticed that one of the reusable bags has a recipe on it. Then I thought about the flour bag dresses of the past....and now I wanna make a statement costume using plastic and reusable grocery bags. LoL

I didn't realize Charles DeLint had published new books in the last few years and recently discovered the Juniper Wiles books (currently a duology, but will be a trilogy, I think).
Its like visiting old friends! Such a lovely tribute to past Newford characters. So good!

I was describing the frenetic dream I had about getting lost at a resort to my husband and he replied, "that's IT! We are NOT going there for vacation!"

Goodmorning! As you brace yourself to face the day, it looks like AWS is down, a timely reminder not to put all your net services in one cloud! Grab a hot mug of your favorite beverage and conquer the day!

Breaking,from the White House:
It's been determined that January causes autism, so starting in 2026 January is illegal and will be replaced by TWO new months: Trumpuary and Trumptember, 45 and 47 days long, respectively.
Don't worry about the math, math is fake news

When I was growing up, I didn't expect to see 30 (no idea why). Now I'm approaching 50 and life is weird, yo.

Random reddit thread about patients diagnosing themselves and being right (interesting stories!) Mentioned an adrenal tumor that caused XYZ. Me, perking up cause *I* have an adrenal nodule that's been growing for the past 5 years! What're the odds!

Just to recap, the actual president found an AI-generated video of a fake news report depicting a fake announcement about an imaginary healthcare system based on a technology that doesn’t exist and posted it on his official social media account
This was always the funniest conspiracy theory to me — that there are MRI machine-like devices that can cure all known illnesses in seconds, but the government has been hiding them — and Trump just posted an AI generated video of himself announcing they're real. We're cooked!
Trump tonight appears to have pushed the false "medbed" conspiracy theory, which has spread in the far-right internet over the years. www.yahoo.com/news/qanon-c...

Also? We took down the pool today and discovered a largish Black Widow spider in the base of the filter. Nice of nature to mark them so clearly!

We have our first respite day for Calvin today. It was supposed to be coverage while we go to the adoption hearing. But it seems we may have that settled with a custody agreement. So now I'm not sure what to do while I have Calvin being watched (no school today).

Me: oh! Looks like the rapture is happening on Tuesday!
Spouse: again?
13yo: what?
Spouse: Jesus comes down and rains blood and torture
13yo: why did no one tell me about this?

I just feel like "we have to ruthlessly pursue and persecute the vile evil group who did this oh wait it was one of us never mind" SHOULD stretch this particular moment to breaking point but I guess it won't.

We got a case manager at Calvin's Healthcare plan, and they've pushed through the Respite and Diaper services we have been needing but getting nowhere with. Yay!
It is exhausting regardless, but I'm glad these services are available, eventually.

The building that previously held the local Rite Aid and I'd turn it into a community kitchen where you could "borrow" the ovens or equipment and also take cooking classes, and there would be a craft corner to "borrow" a sewing machine etc etc etc
Since none of us is actually going to win the Powerball, what’s the most ridiculous thing you’d do with the money if you won? Forget paying off student loans or buying a house, what’s your ridiculous purchase?
