part of the reason i dont follow minors is because i know i wouldn't want anyone's opinions of me to be informed by how i used to act pre-18 so i extend that to people online, i don't want my opinion of them to be informed by who they are in what is likely the worst years of their life

The reality is the body will be whatever weight it needs to be. Thinness is valourised because in the context of modern Western society it requires extensive active intervention, which costs money, so it serves as a handy class signifier — being slim is good because it makes you look rich

the only issue i have with this post is that set point does seem to naturally get heavier as one ages, but other than that i 100% agree

I haven't seen any evidence to suggest
1) that an individual's body weight set point (their "natural" body weight that they "spring" back to) can be permanently changed in a way that does not require active measures to maintain
