This is the sort of urban design we need!

Design that prioritizes sustainable transport such as walking and biking will help us lower our transport emissions.🚶

#cities #climatepolicy #transit #urbandesign #sustainability
Pedestrian spaces look great, they build a center for the community to rally around, and they save our cities valuable tax dollars. If we want to build better cities, then we should be focusing not just on big sweeping projects. But the smaller ones that create an impact too!

🏛️⚠️ Bills in Congress could weaken DOE appliance efficiency rules. Experts warn this would lock in wasteful tech & push household energy bills even higher, which is why it is important to advocate for local-level policies!

🏠Buildings are a leading source of greenhouse gas emissions and are typically regulated at the local level!

Newly constructed buildings should be nearly or completely fossil-free, and existing buildings need to be decarbonized in the coming years. 🌳

This is exactly why some cities have started to remove parking minimums, such as Chicago and Boulder.
Parking minimums require new development to include a certain amount of parking. Eliminating these supports public transport while reducing both flooding and urban heat! 🚄

#cities #climatepolicy
Anyone who claims there isn’t enough parking just remember

There are over 2 billion parking spots in the US alone

That’s enough parking for every American to own 5 cars

If we put all the parking spaces into one giant lot it would cover over the entire states of Connecticut and Vermont
