super disappointing to see such a talented artist go from a queer positive series to remake slop that serves only to line the pockets of a terf billionaire so she can pay for her transphobic crusade 😞
Production designer Mara LePere-Schloop has joined HBO’s Harry Potter series, according to Deadline. Season 1 of the series is now production.

My MP, @alexdaviesjones.bsky.social is an affront to democracy. Last year, she set the police on two of my neighbours for the crime of drawing attention to her voting record on Palestine. This week, she, A "Minister of Justice", stood in a courtroom and lied through her teeth.

A lot of people approach trans community organisers as if they were service providers who need to do a job for them and darlings that is not how this shit works.

LRT: 4 points is a lot in PIP assessors' minds - most people will get their PIP stripped if this does indeed come into force. Can't wait to be confined to my house in poverty, thanks Keir!!!!

So many disabilities need serious help but also are not asymmetrical in this way, so they’ll lose out on PIP. It’s ridiculous that we’ve had to document to a stranger when we were suicidal and how long it takes us to shit, the humiliation of it all, and now they’re taking it off people.

All the way up to possibility of setting the house on fire, you know. So 4 points in a single category is already possibility of randomly dying because of your disability. I personally think that’s quite a high bar for support!

This thread, but also: if they're making it harder to get PIP what does that mean cus it's basically impossible to get it now without Citizen's Advice to bully them into handing it over
I suspected when Keir Starmer released a video talking about his disabled mum without mentioning benefits, social care, or the welfare state that things were going to be bad. The proposed punitive cuts to ESA, freezing of PIP and making it harder to apply for PIP is horrific.

The Disability Price Tag report of 2024 by Scope (updated annually) put the current extra cost per month on average for a disabled household at £1010. PER MONTH. And our Labour government wants to slash the support money people are offered?

For last year, the DWP release figures that there was 0% fraud for PIP, so the announcement that they're going to make PIP harder to get is just admitting they are restricting it from people who could and should be in receipt of PIP.

This looks like the actual dream job for any writer. Working for a great show, room to collaborate, room to be alone, goofy fun vibes...

Some people are hollering for trade unions to stand up to Labour re disability benefits - but trade unions have long insisted on using "working people" as a synonym for "poor people", furthering the myth that disabled people are better off finanically than the working-class.

you should absolutely be appalled!

not that trans people exist and deserve autonomy

But that the NHS is wasting YOUR MONEY in being an obstacle to that for absolutely no discernable benefit to anyone at all.

they know all of this but they would rather maintain control over trans lives rather than admit they were wrong to ever act like they could be arbiters in who people are.

So they are spending millions of your money doing that when they could just fucking not and we'd all be happier for it.

the extra is just what's being wasted by the NHS in pointless screenings and consultations and psyche appointments and wait times etc and so forth.

And they could probably cut the £70/year down by buying in bulk from suppliers - which individuals can't really do.

it roughly works out to about £384 per trans person according to the ONS - though the census is likely under representing the true number of trans people and so it's probably significantly less than £384.

my DIY hrt cost about £200 for a 3 year supply to buy. which is around £70/per year.

"NHS spends £100m a year on trans treatments"

"not on hormones or surgery though lmao"

so the headline is really "NHS spends 100m a year on being an obstacle to trans people's bodily autonomy."

You should be appalled at how much they are wasting in preventing us from transition! it is sickening!

I love National Theatre Live. I really wanted to see this production of The Importance of Being Earnest but I just couldn't get to London while it was on. As a Wilde nerd and a gay boy... I'm having the best time. I need Ncuti's suits so bad.

Unison is the largest women’s organization in the UK. It has a million women members.

The Unison women’s conference just voted for a motion that said;

“trans women are women and trans men are men”

with no-one speaking against it.

Transphobia is a top-down, elite practice.

I was also taken to another country for conversion therapy. I tried and planned to kill myself multiple times.
I tried contacting the British consulate, they did nothing.

My heart breaks for Eden.
