I as many, have that issue of needing to be explicitly invited to an event to go. But nobody talks about how when you explicitly invite people to hang with you and get met with excuses to the point of just not wanting to plan anything & needing to be explicitly invited by them, which never happens
People with trauma histories often interpret neutral cues as negative.
"You can come if you want." sounds to them like the person doesn't actually want them to come.
Affirming that you want them there helps remove any doubts.
