Rainy-day garden harvest - first up, the quinces. After having hardly any last year, this mast season produced bumper crop. Plenty to make membrillo for the Christmas cheese plate - but I will leave them in the bowl for a while just because their amazing scent fills the room so wonderfully

I learned only recently that “Jerusalem” in the name is likely a bastardisation of “girasole”, the Italian for “sunflower” (which of course these plants resemble) 🌼
