Been going down a rabbit hole of watching some of the earliest surviving motion pictures, from around 1880-1920. Looked up “oldest films” lists on Letterboxd and most of them included movies up to the 60s… the 80s… one even defined “old” as anything made up to 1999. 💀

A good example of how useful photo reference can be to level up your art. On the left is my initial freehand doodle. Couldn’t find one image in a pose I liked, so I used elements from three.
Could I have gotten there without ref? Maybe sort of, through hours of trail and error. It’s a tricky angle.

Stranger Things finale was beautiful, I was so moved by how it kept hammering home it’s message about the power of friendship and imagination, but all I see are people complaining about it being “cringe”, why are you all like this?
