Lovely and fresh on the North Devon coast today but also rather chilly.

The last 8%: our waning crescent moon this morning, with Spica to the left of it in this picture.

Just before 10am at Westward Ho! this morning. Although it escaped the worst of Storm Claudia, tons of pots from the top of the pebble ridge have been carried over the top onto the footpath.

A very bold rainbow just now.

Still some autumn colour at RHS Rosemoor yesterday.

A day of rain is forecast for North Devon today and so this moment of colour just before sunrise might be all we see apart from grey.

Thanks for posting this - it’s beautiful.
Spring in the Weald of Kent by the Kentish artist Rowland Hilder

I love everything about it. The blossom on the trees, the long gone Elm trees, the horse and cart slowly moving through a hedgerow lined lane, the Oasts

Acer palmatum Osakazuki just after a shower of rain at RHS Rosemoor this morning.

Be-dew-elled flower head of Verbena bonariensis this morning.
It’s such a great plant, outlasting almost all of the other late summer perennials.

A Red Admiral butterfly sunning itself today.

Moments before sunrise.
I don’t like the look of that bank of cloud, building from the south, this morning

Pretty puffs of pink ahead of the sunrise over North Devon this morning.
November 7, 2025 at 7:13 AM
Towering and majestic cumulonimbus clouds over North Devon this morning, with sunshine and squally showers on the way.

Twenty minutes on from that tiny little band of brightness and we have this to start the day.
October 30, 2025 at 7:12 AM
06.35 and just a very narrow streak of sunrise in an otherwise heavily clouded dawn sky.

A perfect half, tonight.

It seems barely moments ago that I was revealing the cover for the first book in my new trilogy - and now I can post the second as the finalised MS for Isabel’s War wings its way to be typeset.
Publication is May 2026 and, already, the publisher has made it available for pre order. How time flies.

Only the tiniest puff of pink this morning. But at least it’s dry and mild.

I think surf conditions on the North Devon coast this morning would best be described as messy.
The sunshine is lovely and warm but the wind is manic.

In the UK, we’ve returned to Greenwich Mean Time.
For a while at least, I’m back to doing my morning yoga in daylight.
October 26, 2025 at 7:28 AM
First time for days that we’ve seen anything even approaching a sunrise.
October 21, 2025 at 7:07 AM
Distinctly blurred texture to this morning’s dawn.

The sea is out there somewhere.
North Devon coast this morning. Mild and flat calm.
