There's a frustrating dichotomy placed on being Chinese Indonesian where people assume your east asian-ness somehow undercuts how southeast asian you are. And you have to awkwardly tell them the indo government mandated the erasure of your culture and America funded the slaughter of your people here

Suharto was a brutal dictator who disappeared and mass murdered many innocent civilians in Indonesia and East Timor. Any attempts to name him as a national hero is a spit in the face of all those who suffered at his hands.
