Like if you took a single 100 level Gen-Ed intro to comparative politics class you are objectively more educated on the subject than the majority of Americans.

no. this is mommy and daddy trying to negotiate with a violent toddler behavior. just like with other types of bullies, don't negotiate, apply an immediate consequence. take the toy away. the toy is gone now. maybe the toy comes back if they behave but you shouldn't even bring it up right now.
It might sound silly, but I mean it: The easiest and most potent way for Europe to hurt Trump this year is to once again use its cultural soft power and to threaten a boycott of the World Cup. It would become a completely meaningless event and would hurt him where he is most vulnerable - his vanity.

This leads me to believe that up until this meeting, Trump absolutely thought it was "hole milk."
Trump: "It's actually a legal definition -- 'whole milk.' And it's whole with a W for those of you that have a problem."

The Times went to non urban Minnesota to ask people why they dislike urban Minneapolis. If someone were to ask me to teach a journalism school course on helicopter reporting, this story - so cliche it’s almost hard to believe they really did this - would immediately go on the syllabus.
NYTimes has truly outdone itself with this latest in its "ask white guys in diner" genre. Thank goodness we get a perspective on what's happening in Minneapolis from people in **Nisswa** who probably mean Brainerd when they say they "prefer not to go the city anymore" www.nytimes.com/2026/01/15/u...

The worst part imo is that it obscures the very idea of state violence as a totality. Not in an institutional violence/racism sense but the fundamental concept of the apparatus' authority to use force. And it does so by creating a false and misleading sensation of direct participation in it.

if you're familiar with the Breendoggle in the United States, it's evident that this kind of attitude - where sexual liberation and the rape of children were confused - *can* pop up anywhere. it was just particularly bad in France.

a robot that can fold laundry is pretty damn close to a general purpose technology, that holy grain of the economics of innovation.

same as the home construction robot. at that point the economy utterly changes, in a way that specialized automation of incremental tasks does not.
