Happy birthday to American writer Lewis Shiner, born today in 1950. Shiner began his career as a science fiction writer, but then identified with cyberpunk, and later wrote more mainstream novels, albeit often with magical realism and fantasy elements. #LewisShiner

Alex Pretti was a colleague at the VA. We hired him to recruit for our trial. He became an ICU nurse- I lover working with him. He was a good kind person who lived to help and these fuckers executed him.

The first time I ever felt seen as a victim of child sexual abuse was while reading the novel "Strega" by Andrew Vachss. It'd never occurred to me before reading it that anyone in the world cared what had been done to me, because no one up to that point even pretended to. 1/3

Strega was a great introduction, I'm sure. And Shella is one that I frequently re-read.

We'll be sharing information on future Vachss' publications in the coming months. Here's a heads up!
