Finally got around to purchasing tickets for #FFXIV Fan Fest.

Got my #FFXIV Keyboard and deskpad today. I got a lot of work I need to get through so will probably set it up later and take pictures etc.

The thing that strikes me about replacing voice actors with AI slop is that, in the scope of a big AA/AAA production it barely saves money? These people aren't even full time. It's immizerating people because immizerating people is your goal, nothing more.

Finally got around to Tron: Ares.
Wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be based on what people were saying. It still wasn't amazing, but it sucks to see it performed on a level that makes them not want to pursue the threads it looked like it was chasing, especially stuff from Legacy.
A damn shame.

Finally got around to Tron: Ares.
Wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be based on what people were saying. It still wasn't amazing, but it sucks to see it performed on a level that makes them not want to pursue the threads it looked like it was chasing, especially stuff from Legacy.

Saw a bunch of the closed beta stuff, and rest assured Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy is another massive swing and a miss on what an FF crossover could be. They've fumbled this bag so spectacularly so many times that I legit don't think I'm interested in it any more lol

Because SE's QA people are probably not in a position to defend themselves and their jobs in public, I want to spell out some of what it is they specifically do for us localizers, because nothing I've written here is rhetorical. SE QA acts as a final check on our work after translation and editing.
You don't need me to tell you this is yet more good money being burned after bad. But as someone who's worked with that QA team, I'll say they're unsung heroes who truly play a huge role in maintaining SE's reputation for high quality locs and to attempt to replace them with AI is deeply insulting.

He told me they're organizing assets, code, and reference materials, as well as modernizing assets "should there ever be a project to recreate FFXI" and they're doing this with "relatively high priority."

The Future Class page was taken down sometime this year—eliminating a definitive archive of honorees.
