The Princess. A short story. 🧵

She glided over the snow. Slow, deliberate, it wasn’t easy going. Her bearer struggled with the unstable ground, slipping and sliding against the weight of the carriage.

I continue to be amazed by all the folks who continue to speed through snow squalls and poor road conditions.

The I remember that London doesn't have a traffic enforcement division. With speed cameras gone, you'll never get caught unless you cause a serious motor vehicle collision.

Stay safe!

Here are the folks that Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer are beholden to. From @opensecrets.org

This is on top of their $175,000 to $225,000 annual salary, and all the insider trading they do @unusualwhales.bsky.social

Serving the country should not be this profitable or driven by such motives.

with 25 years of CSI behind us, I think a sociologist could make a real good run at teasing apart some of the downstream impacts
I don't really buy most hard claims about fiction driving beliefs or whatever but I think the crime-entertainment industrial complex is so large and pervasive and has been so for such a long time at this point that it's definitely warped mass perception on a lot of issues.

keep track of these asses that were 'all in' on crypto, then 'all in' on AI. when the next wave of investment money crashes on the beach, you can spot these whacks from a mile away
"We were so all-in on crypto that our podcast name is an esoteric crypto term. But A.I.'s the real deal! You can trust us!"

if everyone had what they needed, capitalism couldn't exist. it's a system that doesn't value production, or hard work, or labour, or the fruits of that labour. it values ownership, especially the ownership of the means of production, and tolling the ladder on which others may climb out of poverty

Vaguely missing the pomp and circumstance of a religious holiday season. We'd be at church a half-dozen times in the week around Christmas.

It was tedious for a child/teen but the scents and sounds and community are drilled into my brain.

I bet for many, just having a place to go, congregating.

Taxpayers and charities helped develop Zolgensma.

Then it debuted at a record price, ushering in a new class of wildly expensive drugs.

Its story upends the widely held conception that high prices reflect huge industry investments in innovation.
