Just your typical gay married GenXer librarian living in Harrisburg, PA. I read/listen to books, obsessed with Broadway, and watch way too much TV.
I am impressed by the number of series that Blake Pierce writes. I have been listening to the first book in each series. I find it hard to tell the difference between the characters. Female FBI agent who goes rogue, solves the mystery because of her intuition. Insert names. #goodreads #booksky

This book starts off with the worst gender reveal possible, but then turns into a very convoluted murder mystery. There are a lot of plot lines in this book with some really unsympathetic characters. The climax felt fractured and then I was left not caring much. #goodreads #booksky

I love Emily Henry. Her books are the best beach reads. This writing and book oriented romance about writing biography is really a wonderful story. Yes the celebrity biography is the Hearst family and yes the resolution is a bit daytime soapy, but still a fun read. Recommend. #goodreads #booksky

This cozy mystery is a book inside a book. The main character is solving a murder close to home as she writes a costume mystery set in the 20's. I found the costume mystery more intriguing, but still a nice cozy mystery series launch. #goodreads #booksky

This mystery is the second in this series. The story is told through a mystery occurring in the current timeline with flashbacks to the 1960's to give deeper understanding to what is going on in the main story. I will continue with the series, so I think it is worth my time. #goodreads #booksky

My last vacation read. The Scotty mysteries of Herren are my favorite. Scotty's new family member, his nephew, is suspected of murder and his husbands are again mixed up in some intrigue. If you like the Housewives, this book gives you a bit of behind the scenes insight, sort of. #goodreads #booksky

One more review of the books I read on vacation. This was my second Chanse mystery. It again gives some love to Herren's favorite topics like New Orleans social structure, wrestling, and the church in New Orleans. This was a lovely beach read. #goodreads #booksky

The mystery was a really good cozy mystery. Who would think that a declutter could get wrapped up in such a mystery. I enjoyed the story. However, this is one book I would not recommend the audio. The narrator in the book is a female character, but the voice actor was male. #goodreads #booksky

This is the first in the series and after finishing the book, I am not sure how it can continue, but I am going to add 2 to my hoopla favorites. It set on a lamb farm in rural England, but lots of neferious stuff is going on in the community. The mystery was very twisty. #goodreads #booksky

There is a lot of deceit going on in this book. Trust no one's perspective as you read this book. What is true, what is false. The biggest problem I had with this book was that it is completely premised on the idea women will all fall for a pretty face. #goodreads #booksky

The book probably can be described as a medical thriller, but it is also a murder mystery and personal drama. I enjoyed listening to this book, but I am not sure that I would conside it a great book. It kept my interest and did not see the moral relativism coming. #goodreads #booksky

This was another book I read on vacation. I love Greg Heren mysteries, they have a sense of the south without becoming another character. This series, set in New Orleans, has Katrina PTSD in its heart. The story moves nicely. Chanse is one of my favorite detective characters. #goodreads #booksky

Recently, I have been reading thrillers focused on suburban neighborhoods. What I have loved is that no one is "good", everyone has secrets. This is a good entry to this genre if you are looking to expand your writers in this direction. Murder, affairs, lies....it has it all. #goodreads #booksky

Not much I have to say about this first collection of Poirot short stories from Agatha Christie. I forget how much early Poirot feels a little like a Holmes and Watson mysteries. Since short stories, good for a read on a vacation or cruise ship. #goodreads #BookSky

This suspense novel really kept my attention. Alex is haunted by the baby she gave up for adoption when she was young. The over arching question is can you and your children overcome the genes they inherit. So many twists that you may not see the solution coming. #goodreads #booksky

This throwback I read, yes read, on vacation. I got this book at the 2004 Book Expo. This is a good example of gay novels of the era. Not so much actual sex in the story, and everybody is beautiful. It was pleasant and if looking for MM romance, this is an admirable read. #goodreads #booksky

This thriller is really not much of a suspense but is an engaging listen. Ashley as a character I am not sure how much I would want as a close friend. Her relationship in the first part of the book was problematic and can see what happens on that front in the rest of the series. #goodreads #BookSky

This book has a very intriguing plot. Trigger warning is that the book deals with the consequences of child abuse. There are times that the book is not exactly fair, but the story is really nicely laid out and the twists really make you go hum. #goodreads

This is the sixth entry in the Rachel Prince cruise mysteries series. It is a cozy country house murder on a cruise ship. This mystery was one of the more intriguing in the series and the characters are relatable. A tiny glimpse into the passengers and crew on cruise ships. #goodreads #BookSky

This twisty thriller shows that you can't escape your past. There is a lot going on in the story and the pieces align, but there are times when it feels like there may be many red herrings in the story. It is worthy listen. #goodreads

This seemed a bit better idea than the ultimate story laid out here. It is a nice study of the dark side of human nature with a mystery attached. However, not sure it was enough to recommend.

I love Sager. His books turned me on to thrillers again. This book is very different. It is a Noir mystery which feels like a homage to Christie and Marsh. It is a country house mystery with a number of red herrings. Admittedly, my least favorite Sager so far, but still worthy. #goodreads #BookSky

I love Hiaasen! This book was a little less funny than others, but still a great satire of the Florida Man. As usual the book include White Supremists, corrupt politicians, faux philanthropists, and honest vigilantes. They spin a story I wish could only come from Hiaasen's mind. #goodreads #Booksky

With this book, I am caught up on the Galloway Series. I have not read it is the last in the series, but if she ended here, it would make sense. This involves all the characters of the series and is a really interesting mystery. If this is the end, I will miss Ruth very much. #goodreads #Booksky

I love Scottoline. Thank you for your support of PA libraries. This book continues her recent trend of setting stories in Italy. Why does a stranger leave her estate to an orphan in Philadelphia? The twisty story is great to spend time with. A bit gothic, but not too much. #goodreads #Booksky
