"The days are getting shorter and colder, but I ask you to remember: even as the Winter comes in, there is Hope and there is Light."

Enjoyed a wander around the Scottish National Galleries, mostly because I know diddly squat about Scottish art.

You’ll be pleased to know that it doesn’t all look like this.

Arrived finally. Just resetting our clocks to local time. I think it’s 1707.

Someone should do a series on airport smoking areas.

Today wasn’t the day for trying to get to Edinburgh by train then.

I’d like to see more companies adopt a no generative AI stance. It’s the only permissible approach to widespread theft.
Artists behind some of the most popular films of all time are also forging one of the most powerful organized resistances to AI.

With solidarity, class action lawsuits and strong legislation, they're fighting to protect their livelihoods, and pop culture, from big tech.

My latest:
How artists behind Marvel, Alien, and the Matrix movies are fighting AI
With solidarity, legislation, class action lawsuits, and a little help from Guillermo del Toro. Plus, the Luddite Renaissance continues, and I open the mailbag.

Biggest news of the week?

Shocking, but sadly not surprising.
A memorable night ruined by a racist thug.

I was invited to speak at the EuroAsia Curry Awards on Monday night, it should have been an exciting opportunity. But on my way there, outside Earl’s Court station, I was subjected to an Islamophobic hate crime. I have now reported it to the police

Why do I keep hearing about young people supporting the far right?

That’s interesting, Labour reported membership has dropped 49000 since I predicted the Greens would overtake them before the end of the year (at the current growth rates at the time).
Greens now at 150000 incidentally.
Just prepped this slide on party membership numbers for a class. Shout if you think/know I've got it wrong as plenty of time to change it. PS I suspect the Tory figure is below 100,000 now but can't prove it, of course. PPS If anyone has an official/updated figure for Plaid, I'd love to know it!

These two media organisations are all too keen to emphasise when a crime has been committed by an asylum seeker or refugee etc. Meanwhile they’re also underplaying the dangers of crime by white men - to a quite extraordinary degree as outlined in this thread.

Draw your own conclusions.
Wow - those are quite phenomenal headlines given the details of the story.

Ahh look, he’s just a ‘nerdy’ guy. No harm done.

You need to scroll down to paragraph 13 of the Sky piece to find the full story!

“Look at Ukraine. Look at Gaza. I haven’t changed a solitary thing. I mean it. I feel as if I’ve been riding on other people’s pain over the last 60 years, and their pain hasn’t helped prevent this kind of tragedy. We’ve learned nothing.”

‘It’s been a cesspit, really, my life’: war photographer Don McCullin on 19 of his greatest pictures
At 90, McCullin has spent seven decades recording conflict and tragedy – while escaping snipers, mortar fire and capture. He reflects on pain, pride and regret

All eyes on Jamaica folks. It’s about to be battered by the worst hurricane in recorded history.

Reject the current political/ media discourse minimising climate change and normalising racism by helping in any way you can, even if that’s just an expression of solidarity and compassion.
