The grains of sand
Are numerous
But not infinite

The fields of stars
are vast
But still limited

You
Are everything
A precious moment
Within an instant
Longer than our imagination.

If you’re zip-tying grandmas protesting losing health care maybe you’re not the good guys in the story?

Happy birthday to the U. S. Army. I regret that what should be celebrated as a great part of our heritage has been co-opted by Toxic Trump as an expression of his own insecurity. Let the No kings protests be a more honest expression of what so many have given their lives a service to protect.

Two Sides
No malice intended
Just self-indolence
Hiding
The allure of the unseen

For me
Waves lap upon the shore
Endlessly
Regal and without regard

Far from shore
The mountainside
Or sea
A lifetime to explore

A scare has two sides
A before and an after
Sometimes visible
But always an after

There are 2 previous historical cases of countries destroying their science and universities, crippling them for decades: Lysenkoism in the USSR and Nazi Germany. The Trump administration will be the 3rd.
It's not just budgets but research, institutions, expertise, and training the next generation.

It is good to remember
A memory is a physical thing
A grey matter winkle
Enduring the wind, rain
And time
Created from a perspective
Stored carelessly or carefully
Worn around the edges
A lifetime cannot hold them
Often lost, sometimes found
So limited and flawed
And ultimately — all we have

Time & Space:
Sunlight travels
Quickly past planets
To find us
Circling in darkness
Never blinking or twinkling
Our planet’s shadow
Cast without consequence
Reveals far-flung sisters
Lifetimes away
The light of dinosaurs

www.washingtonpost.com/world/2025/0... The Toxic Trump Effect strengthens democracies around the world as it weakens the U.S.
Australia’s Labor Party, buoyed by anti-Trump bump, set to win reelection
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and his ruling Labor Party were trailing in polls until recently, but his conservative rival was hurt by Trumpian tendencies.

Rust:
In the sidewalk
Unnoticed
Red and twisted
Once carefully placed
Once helpful
In a way now forgotten
Snow, sun, rain
The red stain grows
Then a moment
Looked upon by large eyes
Squatting in curiosity
So out of place
Reaching out to understand
Don’t touch
Says a mother’s voice

The muse:
She sits beside me
Out of reach
Perhaps a memory
Just remembered
Or some present sound
Or word
That transports me
To that disconnected past
A memory with no utility
But before melting
Transforms everything
Ever so slightly

A Prayer:
A stone
Formed from fire
Lying in dust
Clumsily cracked
Wet
In smooth water
In too short of time

A Poem:
Slates of light
Illuminate
The darkness
Indiscriminately
By choice
