Gave my first conference talk at #ISMBECCB2025.
Presented *gemsparcl* 💎✨, my PhD tool for clustering millions of genomes into species-level clusters - fast.
So grateful to have been selected for a talk and enjoyed connecting with so many great people!
Preprint hopefully coming later this summer! ☀️

Did you attend @iscb.bsky.social's #ismbeccb2025 🇬🇧? @ebi.embl.org colleagues (including reps from #Ensembl, @deciphergenomics.bsky.social, @training.ebi.embl.org, @pdbeurope.bsky.social and @expressionatlas.bsky.social) surely did! 🧬

We snapped some pics of @malloryfreeberg.bsky.social in action 🎤

Now we have what I call the big three biomes represented in @mgnifydb.bsky.social, soil, marine and human. We are constantly looking for MAGs to add to our catalogues. Talk to @tgurbich.bsky.social if you have data you want to contribute.

Great to see jackhammer is back! If you have not tried it please give it a go. We would welcome constructive feedback. We are still adding features.
📣 We’re pleased to announce the release of jackhmmer.
It’s now available for use, and we’d greatly value any feedback as we continue to improve the tool.

Attended a meeting on AI and biological research at the Alan Turing Institute, convened by the UK Cabinet Office. Interesting discussions on the benefits, risks and challenges. A big challenge for @ebi.embl.org will be delivering data slices, moving it to HPCs and then on to the GPUs efficiently.
