Pleased to say my novel made the long list for @bridportprize.bsky.social this year, and an excerpt features in the anthology. I'm querying agents at the moment and also was one of the winners of @irishwriterscentre.bsky.social Novel Fair 2025, so get in touch if you know any agents looking.
About half the houses in my hometown have plaques outside with some imagined name of the house, and they're basically like racehorse names minus "lad" at the end, so "Ardbeg" or "Kilcullen" or whatever. Badly want to buy one in later life and change the plaque to "Ketamine Dungeon" or "Rave Hole".

Always weird seeing TV news doing "people are going to the shops today" stories.

Is this Phil McNulty's protege? Why... why would anyone use tenses like this?

Watching For Your Eyes Only with my 13-year-old nephew here. He asked if it's Bond for old people. I guess even when I watched as a child it was before my time, he's very bemused here, it's brilliant.

Since it's the soundtrack to washing up, seems increasingly clear that the Pet Shop Boys Always On My Mind keeping Fairytale Of New York off Christmas number one is the greatest and rarest good moment for British democracy.

Think I vaguely knew what Killeagh was but thankfully not fully until tonight. It sounds like someone decided to remix one of the "country" Avicii tracks but remove the beats and make it "meaningful".

Washing up is definitely the best job in the large family meal aftermath. Don't tell anyone I said this tho.

Been eyeing this absolutely absurd nerdy argyle sweater for months and the price has now dropped. Still not quite sure I have the courage to go for it.

So much shit I love about being home in Dublin but oldest friends discussing the fact the barman in the local called The Hen is still working is hilarious.

Niece asked me yesterday "what did you do in your childhood"

"For all of it?"

"Yes"

Just remembered at the local pub in Dublin last night hearing the following exchange between two men in their sixties:

"I can't take those, they said"

"Can't take what?"

"The codeine."

"Of course you can!"

"..."

"I'm only trying to help you"
