My latest article is out now open access with @coco-journal.bsky.social.

'Gaza and the failure of atrocity prevention...' examines the need for closer integration between the cosmopolitan harm duty and atrocity prevention under the R2P.

Many thanks to all those who provided feedback along the way.

1⃣ month on since the ceasefire in #Gaza, the risk of war crimes, ethnic cleansing, crimes against humanity & genocide against #Palestinians remains high.

Without addressing the root causes, violence against civilians in #Israel & the OPT will persist.

So, Trump thinks that people living in dangerous places should leave for safety elsewhere. Someone should tell him about international refugee law, he’d surely really like it.

Like most others I am absolutely staggered by developments in Syria right now.

Praying that this is the start of a progressive and peaceful future.

What a historic day for Syrians and the world!

It shows the potency of rebel coordination, the fragility of externally propped-up regimes, and how poorly we predict civil war dynamics.

This is closely watched by rebel forces in Myanmar, the junta, and its supporters in Beijing!

A legacy of fueling mass killing and suffering with US weapons.

Live updates: Amid optimism over cease-fire in Lebanon, U.S. sets sights on Gaza deal
The cease-fire deal is set to stop fighting for 60 days between Israel and Hezbollah. Regional neighbors hope it will lead to a wider de-escalation.

The liberal international order really is in crisis

Indeed. "Last Christmas" by WHAM! was and always will be superior.
Largely agreed with this. "Do They Know It's Christmas?" did more good than harm at the time -- a well-meaning but patronising intervention that did raise serious amounts of money for famine relief. But the lyrics were clueless even then, and forty years on it really doesn't need revisiting any more
Do they know it’s Africa, at all? Great piece by David Pilling on that song. www.ft.com/content/8292...
