A beautiful essay by cosmologist Mark Neyrinck, full of helpful real-world analogies for explaining the shape and evolution of large-scale structure in the universe 🔭
What if the secrets of the Universe were woven into the forests, oceans, and skies around us? The same cosmic threads shaping galaxies may also shape the patterns of life on Earth and even inside us

Got a surprise cake and bubbly at group meeting today. It is one of the best red velvet cakes I've had ever. Also there was bubbly. Also my students are the best. Also the promotion is nice, too. 😊

The amazing results from our large Hubble program, led by Alessandro Savino! These deep images allowed us to measure their detailed star formation histories, and we see they are not as we would expect when comparing to the Milky Way 🔭🧪
NEW: Hubble is studying a swarm of 36 dwarf galaxies that orbit our neighboring Andromeda Galaxy. The dwarf galaxies are evidence that Andromeda has had a more dynamic history than our Milky Way galaxy: bit.ly/4bswtsl 🔭 🧪
