Anyone else worried about the mining of personal and public data to the private sector to create money? Because that’s what these AI deals Starmer is planning really are. An exploitation of peoples’ information, before they can adequately demonstrate how that information will be safely held.🚨

The only viable source of funding for investment in the UK is UK savers www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2025/01... Rachel Reeves should stop her globe-trotting with a begging bowl and realise that the only source of investment funding for the UK is UK savers if she changes pension and ISA savings rules.

It became clear yesterday that Rachel Reeves’ mad trip to China, accompanied by Andrew Bailey, who is Governor of the Bank of England, will raise no more than £600 million worth of new investment into...

Reform has proposed a Bill in parliament that would destroy the ability of the UK government to create money. A policy of that sort would crash UK economic credibility and our economy.

Inflation is down. When will interest rates follow? www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2025/01... Just walking around was enough to suggest that the UK had a poor Christmas economically. That is now reflected in inflation data, which is down. So, when will the Bank of England start interest rates tumbling?

As I, but apaprently no one else expected, inflation fell in December. The Office for National Statistics has reported the following this morning: The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) rose by 2.5% in th...

Borrowing costs are high because that’s exactly what the Bank of England wants www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2025/01... The Bank of England is totally unnecessarily selling £100 billion of bonds this year that will not fund the government, inflating interest rates and reducing growth as a result.

“It's now Labour's job is to deliver the change that was promised” - it won’t. The City and BlackRock who the party are leaning on to “stimulate the economy” not redistribute wealth, which is what the country needs, will do absolutely nothing.
The last Tory government left the country in a mess.

Record NHS waiting lists, not enough teachers, crumbling infrastructure, millions without a home of their own and record energy prices.

It's now Labour's job is to deliver the change that was promised. ⤵️

This is a reminder, that now, under Labour and @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social - 20% of NHS funding (from us the tax payer) - gets rediverted to the private sector.

In return they see 10% of patients (the simplest cases no less).

This is not a good business model.

This isn't change. Starmer was never a reformist. You would need a different type of Labour leader for that. One that isn't bought so easily.
"Starmer says 'proportional representation is not our policy' and that 'we won’t be making time for it' and gently suggests that Davey didn’t do too badly under the current system."

End of the road for PR? No chance of political reform with Starmer in charge.
