Founder Comicpalooza. Now I write
and publish. Explorers of Rinth, Saga of Bjorn Unfrid by John Simons. Outfauxed by Corrie Peters.

If Donald Barthelme liked my writing when I was 21, why aren’t you reading my books now that I know what I’m doing?
Houston creators! I’m putting on a con again! Artists, writers, filmmakers, crafters, let me know if you’re interested in a pop culture con in Katy this April!

Merchandising changed my books. I created a candy based on my book’s main character, and the candy outsold the book. Now I’m looking at storytelling in a much broader way. It’s smart retailing.

Also, delicious!

When I ran Comicpalooza, I made it about comic characters not just comic books. I see my own books that way too; I intend for them to be more than characters in novels. I want them to be woven into many things.

Excluding movies, what is the best way you have seen characters expanded beyond books?

In college I went to a 1st night student theatrical production. Almost no one was there except my 3 friends and me & 1 theater prof. It was Edward Albee. We had a long chat at intermission. I spoke to a historical figure while they were still alive but was woefully unprepared for the conversation.

Unanticipated Indie Author Reality: I make more money selling the merch for my book than I do selling my book.

I thought the author gig would be me writing novels and short stories all the time. But in the past few years I’ve written scripts for anime shorts, scripts for audio dramas, and even a rap piece. This is a much stranger and more crooked path than expected!

The bright side to not finished all my projects in 2025 is that I don’t have to come up with as many brand new projects for 2026!

It’s great when the kids are small and excited about what Santa brought them, but it’s next level when the kids are older and they pick up all the wrapping paper trash while you sip your coffee and watch.

Enews clickbait title: This one skill could make you live 20 years longer.

The skill: standing on one foot.

Me: If I stand on one foot and pet the puppy with the other, I will live a long life.

The fat puppy: Bruh, it’s 5:45. Go to work.

PRO TIP: For sound, restful sleep that is not interrupted by bizarre fever dreams, don’t binge watch Welcome to Derry.

That is all.

A recent study reveals math teachers spend more time lecturing than English teachers do. No surprise. Math teachers always go off on tangents.

A conversation from 2075

Medium/Exorcist: Oh Spirit! What unfinished business binds you to this mortal realm?

Ghost: I am waiting for my children to notice I dedicated my debut novel to them.

It’s me. I’m the ghost!

There may have been 5 gold rings for Christmas but don’t forget there was one ring to rule them all.
Lets be honest, during the 12 days of christmas, the 5 golden rings ruined the entire gifting scheme, just a terrible call.Should have sent them right back

In high school I was voted Most Likely to Become a Priest. I write speculative fiction and the hero of my urban paranormal fantasy novel is a polytheist who talks to ancient spirits. Life is messy
