Hey #yycbike, anybody else noticed the new pathway on the north side of 90 Ave SW from 24 St to Glenmore Landing?
It'll be a great way to avoid pathway congestion in that area during busy weekends, and is flatter / more direct compared to the path thru the park.

Amazing recovery.
Grateful to spend two days on the Klamath watching chinook, liberated by dam removal, return to streams from which they’d been precluded since the Titanic sank. Fish are everywhere, in numbers that stagger the mind & locations that biologists figured would take years to repopulate. Too beautiful.

The Invisible Pedestrian; or, why Vision Zero doesn’t promote reflectors
As the seasons change, and the days get shorter, we often get asked, “Why doesn’t Vision Zero promote reflectors and lights for pedestrians and cyclists? It seems like everyone wears dark rain coat…

When is the General Strike?
TODAY, UCP government denied the Chief Electoral Officer a supplemental budget required to prepare a referendum on Alberta’s separation from Canada.
Is #ForeverCanadian safe to presume that this is an indication that no such referendum will take place?

Side note, in case you’re curious… The Sam Vimes theory of socioeconomic unfairness (aka boots theory) is an economic theory that people in poverty are forced to buy cheap, subpar products that need to be replaced repeatedly.

Oh my look at the friend I found today - you should t be out in November.
I moved it from the aster to a cat mint that still has flowers. Hopefully it finds a safe winter home.
Ps so much easier to take photos when they are sluggish!

Does a body know info on muskrat migration / dispersal? I saw a muskrat in this storm pond and I cant figure how it got there considering the kms of houses and 4 lane roads to the nearest natural area.

Maybe, just maybe police could start enforcing traffic laws - charging everybody speeding, running red lights, failing to stop for pedestrians.
Drivers think it is their right to go as fast as they bloody well please because there are no consequences

A string of recent pedestrian collisions -- including three fatalities earlier this month -- has pushed #Calgary to a grim milestone, with 30 traffic deaths so far this year, 11 of them pedestrians.

Folks told me the silver lining to bike theft is new bike day...
Hmm
45 minutes to find new light is faulty and I am not an idiot who can't operate it
30 minutes and a lost washer spacer thingy to put a different saddle on (havent yet figured if its set right)
Not fun.
But I got a couple stickers

Today I found this cool fungus with blades of smooth brome grown through it.
Now I wonder can the fungus grow fast enough to trap a leaf? Could a brome grow through the fungus (and why wouldn't it grow around instead?)
Any mycologists who might have insights?

So hard getting geared up mentally to ride as it shifts to cooler weather.
I know it'll be fine once we get going and get used to it again but damn the blanket on the couch is so much more appealing today.

Remember when it was too intrusive to ask the Premier if she had been vaccinated?
Now we have to announce details of our health to umpteen folks to get a vaccination.
And our daughters have to prove they have a vagina to play sports.

Albertans: if you're looking for a COVID vaccine, remember to check the list of medical conditions that qualify you for Phase I (it's more inclusive than I'd have guessed). You can book the appointments through MyAHSConnect.
