Does anyone teaching Edexcel Further Maths know of any PowerPoints for FS1 other than those from Dr Frost. I had some however after retiring I seem to have misplaced the USB drive with them on. Any help would be gratefully received.

The problem for the American Ryder Cup team was that they didn't play using TRoG (Trump Rules of Golf). If their caddies had been allowed to drop a new ball on a perfect spot after every shot on Friday and Saturday they wouldn't have lost those matches so decisively.

First full (8 period) day after a year away from teaching. Felt great to be standing up in front of classes discussing maths again. I did the below with a mixed Year 7 class and to my surprise, when I asked at the end they all said they enjoyed it!

With the start of a new year, I thought it might be a good idea to make a thread to share the resources on Corbettmaths and how they will be incredibly useful for students (and their teachers) preparing for exams in 2025 🧵

In case you aren't in the extensive maths-nerd bubble, here are some nice number properties of 2025 that "everyone" is talking about:
* 2025 is a square number (45^2), the only square year most of us will live through
* 45=20+25, so (20+25)^2 = 2025
* 1^3+2^3+3^3+4^3+5^3+6^3+7^3+8^3+9^3 = 2025

Anyone teaching summations of series next year should bookmark this.

Given that 45 is the ninth triangular number, this must mean that

2025 = 1³+2³+3³+4³+5³+6³+7³+8³+9³

Unless someone does a Futurama, none of us will be around for the sum of the first ten cubes.

I always talk about hypothesis testing in terms of a court case. Whereas the prosecution must find sufficient evidence to prove guilt, they must find sufficient evidence to reject the null hypothesis.
