Naively, I never considered it - if we are to successfully ‘colonise’ space we need to get much better at understanding & building functional ecosystems that include recycling & environmental regulation.

The long-held belief that only female mosquitoes bite may not be true after all.

Very excited to have had the opportunity to contribute to this study showing that male mosquitoes can also bite and feed on blood.

“Basic neuroscience hasn’t produced new drugs.” 💊

Not true - zuranolone (PPD), suzetrigine (pain), gepants (migraine), and more... were born out of a long arc of studies in the lab.

I wrote a Perspective on why this matters. @thetransmitter.bsky.social

How basic neuroscience has paved the path to new drugs
A growing list of medications—such as zuranolone for postpartum depression, suzetrigine for pain, and the gepants class of migraine medicines—exist because of insights from basic research.

Sad day. My thoughts go to his family. Still processing that he is gone. Adam always seemed invincible with his humanity, generosity, and positive attitude. In his world you could build anything, be anyone, and understand everything. And the world was full of wonders and beauty.
Today we honour the memory of Adam Kampff, whose passing leaves an immense void in our community.

We are profoundly grateful to Adam. The best way to honour him is to continue innovating, collaborating, and sharing generously, as he taught us. Thank you, Adam Kampff.
