This is a disastrous, idolatrous idea.
The IRS said clergy and houses of worship should be allowed to make political endorsements, a potential move away from a 71-year-old policy that banned the mixing of religion and politics.

Since 1954, the IRS has banned nonprofits — including congregations — from participating in political campaigns. The agency now says political endorsements by churches should be allowed.

Laughing in front of cages designed to hold migrants and refugees, many of whom came to this country fleeing extreme violence and poverty, and hoping to raise their children in a more compassionate country. And many of whom followed all the legal procedures to enter the country.

Actually what Americans just saw today was a prominent Republican US Senator announce he is quitting because he knows this budget is going to hurt millions of people and he was repeatedly threatened by the president and his cult for telling the truth about it.

None of us can be sure what will “work.” You try multiple things and find your way in. Read some histories of the Civil Rights Movement by those who participated. They were never “sure” of what would work. Some campaigns fizzled out. But persistence, creativity, determination, and focus were key.

Perhaps the 65%+ of Americans who are not fully onboard with what’s happening with our vulnerable neighbors might take heed here.
Without going all Martin Niemöller here, I do think that it's bad not to speak up for immigrants, transgender Americans, civil servants, women, Ukraine, and everyone else the MAGA bullies are going after. We're beyond picking and choosing whom to defend. It's time to stand up and speak out.

In its simplest terms, the apparent demise of USAID is the result of the world's richest man ending a program that helps millions of poor people. You don't need a Ph.D. in moral theology to see why this is an evil. You can just read Jesus's parables on the rich and the poor.

I wonder if/when the GOP will learn that most people just wanted cheaper groceries. The Federal programs they are destroying serve the majority of their constituents. Will Congress simply sit back and watch the mayhem, or will they actually be the leaders they're elected to be?
