Oxford commas and em-dashes perceived as indicators of generative-AI rather than the other way around, that it is learned from human writing, really gets to me.

I’ve been interested in machine learning ever since I was little, but I never had the brains. Lately I’ve been reading some peer-reviewed papers about LLMs and LDMs specifically, bc they’re either the issue or precursors to bigger issues. I love science but hate when it ends up in greedy hands.

How do I assess or address the current waves of ML/AI, whether commercial, open-source or government pushed? Job-displacements? Expanding scopes of ID verification, that comes with security and certification vulnerabilities? And (general) sustainability? Are we going back to a decentralized web? 😰

I’ve been taking a long break from game devving mostly due to health issues, I really want to get back to it.
It’s so hard being a solo artist, so hubby does the programming entirely. I haven’t done code since I worked in the Godot engine. But two engine changes really was tough.

Watching platforms that are generally good get swept away by payment processors too, for NSFW content, while the same application doesn’t solve big issues like CivitAIs (or other repositories) tens of thousands of user uploaded SD LoRA models, fine-tuned to output deepfakes.

2014-15 was the first time I heard of semi-public generative AI, Googles DeepDream. It had a lot of issues, destroying itself through feedback loops.
I used to be able to search for relevant information to study with, it’s become so much harder with all the generated garbage only a decade later.

I used to get heartbroken reading messages telling me I’m various forms of horrible for the ships I’ve chosen to draw, but of course grateful when someone writes something nice. It’s unfortunately a reason I don’t draw much ship art or fan art anymore, how can you recover?

On top of everything I want to do is also an 1880s-1930s whodunnit mystery game, a multiplayer CRPG in a 30s setting - will never happen 😭 but it ok - I finish this game and then I make another at some point 👌🥹

Updating Thomas’s hair too, there are no proper shadow maps yet so the speculars and shadows are off, it’ll look better when I’m done 😭

Hair is the hardest thing to 3D-model, since I’m vertex-pushing and not using simulations or curves - but personally, I find it gives me more control over everything so I prefer it that way~

Materials aren’t all correct and wip-disclaimers 😭 but I decided it was time to make new hair meshes for Lucas as the old ones were placeholders anyway also my screen is dirty, shhhhh

Last year I took a long break from working on new content for my game because I had to switch engine. I also dealt with a lot of illnesses but I’ve begun production again and will continue do so for the next year.
